The new Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 3 (Intel codename: Panther Lake) offers crucial advantages for industrial AI applications: The combination of CPU, GPU, and NPU in a single, highly integrated chip enables more compact, energy-efficient, and cost-effective IoT solutions. This translates to less hardware, reduced complexity, and faster deployment.

Significant added value for industrial applications

The advantages are particularly evident in high-growth application areas such as robotics and automation. Kontron will thus be able to combine image processing, data analysis, and control on a single platform, taking another step towards the standardization of IoT software in the AI ​​sector.

Kontron’s “AI Solution Boxes” are specifically designed for such scenarios. They combine high computing power with optimized interfaces for cameras, sensors, and industrial communication. This enables compact solutions for applications such as machine vision, automation, and robotics, while simultaneously reducing system costs.

Edge AI for safety-critical applications

New opportunities are also emerging in security-critical sectors such as defense, aviation, and infrastructure. Here, the fast and highly secure processing of large data volumes is particularly crucial. To meet these requirements, Kontron has developed the VX30101 high-performance computing board, specifically designed for real-time AI applications at the edge. Typical applications in the defense sector include sensor fusion, autonomous systems, and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) applications. The platform enables the consolidation of previously distributed systems into a single, high-performance solution – a decisive advantage wherever space, energy consumption, and reliability are critical.

The market launch is planned for the third quarter of 2026.

With the planned integration into system platforms such as HARAKAN, Kontron is expanding its defense portfolio to include scalable AI server solutions for robust edge deployments.

Early market positioning as a strategic advantage

Kontron is among the first vendors to use Intel® Core ™ Ultra Series 3 processors in embedded products. Also in development is the new 3.5″ SBC-PTL – a compact system for industrial edge AI applications that combines high efficiency, advanced AI acceleration, and powerful graphics performance.

The collaboration with Intel forms a central basis for Kontron’s strategic development in the AI ​​sector.
