Greater Safety and Transparency in Line Control
FabEagle LC Release 5.5 from Kontron offers greater process reliability, flexible work schedules and Improved data access for networked production lines.
Kontron is offering industrial software for cross-industry automation solutions through its subsidiary Kontron AIS GmbH. With the new version 5.5 of its FabEagle® LC supervisory control system, Kontron AIS is releasing a comprehensive update that provides production operators with greater security, reliability, and transparency in line control.
Release 5.5 of FabEagle® LC includes numerous functional enhancements with a focus on safe, reliable and traceable production processes for automated lines in manufacturing.
Enhanced carrier management for precise traceability
The new carrier management system offers enhanced traceability functions for products and transport units. Complex material flows can be mapped using individually definable carrier types; product data can be queried directly via the carrier. Support for carrier-in-carrier concepts enables the mapping of nested transport structures – a crucial advantage for manufacturing operations with high product variety or complex production lines.
Flexible work schedule management and plant visualization
The work plan management system has been made significantly more flexible. Individual work steps can now be added, deleted, or moved without having to completely recreate existing processes. In addition, the updated web-based Andon Board provides a clear, real-time overview of relevant plant performance indicators. Production data can be viewed on mobile devices or via a web browser for both entire plants and defined plant groups.
CRA-compliant security measures
The new version includes updated component libraries, improving performance and stability. Additionally, the newly integrated Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) provides complete transparency across all software components used. It strengthens the IT security architecture in accordance with current cybersecurity standards such as the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
Modernized interfaces and improved data access for semiconductor manufacturing
The SECS/GEM data interface integration has been fully migrated to the .NET platform, resulting in improved performance, maintainability, and integration capabilities into existing semiconductor backend IT and OT environments. Furthermore, raw data can now be queried directly from the archive database via the central computer client.
Extended diagnostic functions in the TIA Portal
The Kontron AIS Interface PLC module for the TIA Portal (from version TIA19 onwards) has been enhanced with comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. This gives plant suppliers and maintenance personnel detailed insights into the module’s status, enabling them to identify and resolve faults more quickly, thus increasing plant availability.
