New NCU Generation Offers Increased Computing Power and Availability
New Sinumerik One generation makes CNC control systems AI-ready and prepared for the EU Cyber Resilience Act.
Siemens is introducing a new hardware generation for its Sinumerik One CNC control system. With significantly enhanced computing performance, modern graphics architecture, and a platform designed for long-term cybersecurity, the company addresses key technological and regulatory requirements across the manufacturing industry. At the same time, the new architecture lays the foundation for the use of artificial intelligence in machine tools. Customers benefit from increased productivity through data-driven optimization of machining processes and improved use of machine data.

Higher performance for complex applications and communication
At the core of the innovation is a new generation of NCU and PLC processors. The NCU 1740.2 and 1760.2 models deliver significantly higher computing power and notably enhance communication and data processing performance. This is complemented by a new PLC ASIC, a dedicated hardware component specifically designed for PLC functionality, providing additional capabilities, for example in the Profinet environment, while ensuring long-term availability and support. In highly connected production environments, this results in more stable and faster data processing, as well as greater performance headroom for demanding applications and future expansion.
Advanced operator interfaces enabled by new graphics architecture
A high-performance graphics processor enables modern HMI concepts with intuitive operation and advanced visualization capabilities. This allows machine tool builders to further differentiate their machines while improving usability at the same time. The result is greater operational efficiency, for example through reduced setup times and lower operator training requirements.
AI-ready: foundation for data-driven manufacturing
With the introduction of a 64-bit architecture, Sinumerik One is specifically designed to meet the requirements of data-intensive applications. This establishes the technical foundation for integrating AI capabilities and connecting to higher-level analytics systems. For users, this means that machines can be more easily integrated into data-driven optimization workflows, for example to improve quality, optimize machining processes, or enable predictive maintenance. In addition, Sinumerik One supports seamless connectivity to cloud and edge infrastructures required for industrial AI applications.
Cyber Resilience Act as a regulatory framework
As connectivity increases and the use of data continues to grow, the security requirements for industrial systems are becoming more demanding. The EU Cyber Resilience Act establishes regulatory requirements that particularly address long-term updateability and product security.
The new Sinumerik One hardware generation is designed to meet these requirements. Increased computing power enables the implementation of additional security mechanisms, while the architecture is engineered for long-term maintainability and system resilience. This allows machine builders and operators to design their machines in accordance with regulatory requirements.
In addition to the new Sinumerik One generation, the entire Sinumerik portfolio is aligned with the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act and is therefore CRA-ready.
